Great Question …
To give you an idea a competition performance pony with temperaments, ability, breeding, soundness, competitiveness and confirmation of our ponies will on average cost between $20,000 - $45,000 to purchase outright as a minimum. Plus another $5000 for gear and rugs at least. For full care monthly agistment with facilities on average it would be at least $800 per month with basic full care (not including stabling). You would then need to allow a budget for feed roughage and hard feed - Hay Round bails are $120.00 ea and last roughly 2.5 weeks, square nails are $25.00 for grass hay. Hard feed can range from $20 a bag to $120 or more and this may need to be fed twice a day. Horses may also need to be on special feed or medication which can be quite costly such as Ulcershield which treats stomach ulcers very common in horses. Also factoring in farrier services which can range between $70-$250 every 5-8 weeks. Other costs to consider is Insurance and a health vet emergency fund.
Horses are a huge time and money commitment and not one to be taken lightly. With our program you can enjoy the best of horses without having to worry about the serious side of things. You can gauge your or your child’s level of commitment before you buy your own horse and children also out grow their ponies very quickly - it can be difficult buying and selling.
HPC allow for an all inclusive experience for a reasonable price to enjoy the experience of your own pony without the stress, long term commitment or big upfront outlay.
